When my niece Carrie Bickmore lost her husband after his 10 year journey with brain cancer in 2010, she was determined to transform that loss into something that could benefit others who were travelling the same journey.

An opportunity presented itself when she won the Gold Logie at the TV Week Logie awards in 2015. She dedicated it to her late husband Greg and went on to form Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation. Its mission is to raise funds for vital brain cancer research. Since 2015 more than $10.5 million has been raised towards brain cancer research, and grants have been made to these recipients: ~Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute ~Walter + Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research ~Australian Brain Cancer Mission ~Lowy Cancer Research Centre ~Royal Melbourne Hospital ~Neuroscience Foundation

One Australian is diagnosed with brain cancer every 5 hours. Brain cancer kills more children in this country than ANY other disease.

Wayne and I personally know of 10 people whose lives have been affected by brain cancer, and I am privileged to be able to contribute in a small way to funding brain cancer research. For me, shaving my head will be a simple choice compared with the choices facing those whose lives are affected by this disease.

I am so proud of the way Carrie and her tribe have made such a positive difference. Please support me in raising much needed funds for research. The hair comes off March 1!
