The Sydney Bus Museum is a working museum which preserves a rare and invaluable collection of historic buses dating from the 1920's to 1980's.
Our collection consisting of over 70 vehicles ranges from primitive 1920's type buses, through to 1940's and 50's Leylands and AECs as well as the more modern 1980's Mercedes-Benz city buses. The Museum also houses Australia’s largest collection of historic double deckers, including those from Sydney, Adelaide and London.
In August 2016 the Museum reopened in the old Leichhardt tram sheds in Sydney’s inner west. Our vision for the new museum at Leichhardt is to provide Sydney with a world-class interactive transport museum where the community can experience Sydney’s road transport history, including a historic double decker bus service each Sunday connecting the inner west with the Sydney CBD.
Maintaining and restoring buses that are up to 90 years old is expensive. Often there are no spare parts and these need to be remade. We need your financial and voluntary assistance to keep the old buses running. Help us maintain our unique and invaluable collection! Whether it’s $10, $100 or $1000 - your financial support will greatly assist us for future vehicle restoration and maintenance works.
The Sydney Bus Museum is a registered charity and all donations are therefore tax deductible.
