Childhood illness can have a devastating effect on families. As well as all the fear and uncertainty, there are the practicalities of managing the family when a child is away in hospital, often for extended periods of time. At Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®), we have been making life easier for seriously ill children and their families in Australia since 1981.
RMHC has a wide range of programs to help seriously ill children and their families across Australia, all focused on making the journey to recovery as easy as possible:
Our Houses give the families of seriously ill children somewhere to stay close to the hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Our Family Rooms give families visiting a sick child a comfortable place to relax and refresh during their visit.
With a Learning Program based in each state, we help children improve their skills and catch up with what they’ve missed, making a return to school less stressful.
In partnership with Royal Far West, our Care Mobile will regularly visit rural areas of NSW, giving local children access to healthcare services they may otherwise miss out on.
Our Family Retreats give families with a seriously ill child, or those suffering from the death of a child, the necessary opportunity to take a break, spend some much needed time together,
We're like-minded people making a world of difference.
