Lifeline Northern Beaches mission is to relieve distress and suffering in the community by providing vital crisis management services. Our 24 hour telephone support service: 13 11 14, is our core program. Lifeline answers over 700,000 calls nationally, 25,000 of those calls are taken by our Northern Beaches regional centre. The role of the telephone crisis supporter is to help callers find immediate relief. They safely manage any immediate threats to life and then explore coping strategies working towards opening pathways to longer term solutions. Beyond our core 13 11 14 service we provide face-to-face counselling, specialist financial counselling, and suicide prevention programs. Our support group network addresses societal issues of: Grief and Loss, Depression, Anxiety, Suicide Bereavement, Anger Management and Gambling Addiction. With suicide the leading cause of death in young men aged 15 -44 and women under 34 years of age - our role in the community has never been more important. Of the 700,000 people who reach out each year to Lifeline, it could be your neighbour, a friend, someone’s daughter or son, a workmate or even a family member.
