Australian Brandenburg Orchestra
- National Reach
The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra’s name pays tribute to the Brandenburg Concertos of J.S. Bach, whose musical genius was central to the baroque era. Since its foundation in 1989, the Brandenburg has collaborated with such acclaimed and dynamic virtuosi as Andreas Scholl, Fiona Campbell and Philippe Jaroussky. Through its annual subscription series in Sydney and Melbourne, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra performs to live audiences in excess of 30,000, and thousands more through national broadcasts on ABC Classic FM. The Brandenburg also has a regular commitment to performing in regional Australia. Private support whether it be from single ticket buyers, subscribers or donors, makes up approximately 72% of our income, with a modest 18% coming from government. Costs for our annual capital city and regional program series exceed our ticket sales capacity which leaves philanthropy as our growth target, critical for our future to be secure. The support of donors absolutely makes a difference to the Orchestra’s sustainability.
